Ofsted HMI monitoring inspection update - June 2017
The academy was inspected on 16th and 17th May 2017 by HMI (Her Majesty's Inspector) Mark Evans and Ofsted Inspector, Lynne Selkirk. This was the first monitoring inspection since the academy was placed in Special Measures in November 2016.
The inspection team found that the leaders are taking effective action to remove special measures and that our plans are fit for purpose,
Paper copies fo the report can be provided by the academy office.
Update from January 2017
I have already had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with many of you and, hopefully, you have been reassured by the developments and changes I am making and my future plans for the academy. Please click on this link to find a summary of the developments and changes taking place at the academy from January 2017.
This is an academy with great potential and Wakefield City Academies Trust (WCAT) has tasked me with ensuring it is in a position to fulfil that and to lead the academy moving forward.
This requires everybody associated with the academy – staff, parents, governors and sponsor - to work together to ensure we are making the most of your child’s abilities.
Over the last six months and forthcoming year, the academy will continue to be placed under enormous scrutiny to ensure we address the issues raised in the initial report following the inspection in November 2016.
But we can’t do this on our own - we need the support of parents and carers and we have been overwhelmed by the positive support werecieve from parents and the community. This partnership approach between the academy and home will improve educational outcomes for your children.
A copy of the November 2016 report can be found by clicking this link or by searching https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk. Printed copies of the report are available from the main school office.
We will continue to update the academy website and you can also follow the academy’s progress on our new official Twitter account @AcademyWillow to keep up to date with our progress.
In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via the main school office.
Mrs D Sumner, Headteacher.
